Key facts
The $750 million DARES facility is funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to provide technical assistance to Renewable Energy Service Companies (RESCOs) and supply-side subsidies for Solar Home Systems (SHS), mesh-grids and isolated and interconnected mini-grids to enable 17.5 million Nigerians to access electricity. Subsidies are paid in USD. Subsidy value depends on sites' Supply-Side Subsidy Index (for SHS) & site viability scoring (for mini grids).
