Description
Ensuring the last mile in Africa leapfrog towards clean energy is a fundamental element in attaining an aspirational 1.5°C future. Informed by the analysis from Dalberg which observes that achieving a 1.5°C pathway will enable Africa to demonstrate global leadership in the energy transition, the Dialogue will share experiences from across the continent and explore the opportunities and enablers to reach consumers in the last mile, as well as to ensure renewable energy investment can create prosperity. It will also provide opportunities to adapt and refine the Climate Action Pathways and Race-to-Zero Breakthrough outcomes based on regional context and perspectives. Speakers include policymakers from several African countries, regional and international organisations, as well as civil and youth societies. The Dialogue will feed into an anticipated implementation lab on distributed renewable energy at the Africa Climate Week in September 2021.
