|| The International Support Network for African Development (ISNAD-Africa) invites applications from graduate (master’s and doctoral) students in African countries for the 2019 Cohort of its Mentoring for Research Programme.
The Mentoring for Research Programme (MRP) is an online technical assistance programme aimed at knowledge generation and bridging the human capacity gap required to fast-track clean energy transition and climate resilience in Africa. MRP establishes structured and thematic mentoring relationships between graduate students (master’s and doctorate) in African universities, and experienced researchers and professionals in world-class institutions and organisations such as Harvard University, IPCC, Chatham House, IRENA, EU Joint Research Centre, University College London, Overseas Development Institute, among others in over 30 countries. The mentoring programme will help students (mentees) complement the supervisory support they will receive from their institution-based supervisors, among other benefits.
Students admitted to the programme (mentees) are those that are conducting research on sustainable energy, environment and climate change topics in their various disciplines (all disciplines - Technology, Sciences, Arts, Law, Social Sciences, Environmental Design and Management, Agriculture, Health Sciences, ICT, among others) during the mentoring year. In commencement of the programme, mentees will be trained via webinars on sustainable energy, environment and climate change with emphasis on the concerns in African context. As an impact and knowledge transfer mechanism, each mentee will be required to execute a self-proposed Energy, Environment and Climate Change (EEC) Outreach which will be funded by ISNAD-Africa. The EEC outreach will be targeted at various people groups as a knowledge transfer mechanism to further promote EEC awareness and education in Africa.
The 2018 Cohort of the programme supports 37 research students from 22 universities in 13 Countries drawn from 278 applicants in 108 universities from 22 African countries some of whom were also awarded Fellowships and grant for foreign training and conference by our partners.
