Call for Proposals for Private Sector led Mini Grids in Myanmar

The mini grid and off-grid component of the World Bank-funded National Electrification Project (NEP) in Myanmar aims to electrify rural areas where villages are most unlikely to be electrified using national grid extension in the near future. As the NEP implementing agency, the DRD NEP Project Management Office (PMO) is calling for proposals from private project developers to invest in, own, engineer, procure, construct, operate and manage mini-grids electricity supply with less than one megawatt (MW).

Selected projects will be entitled to receive a grant of up to 60% of the total capital expenditure (CAPEX) from the Government of Myanmar’s NEP project. The CfP process has no deadline and prospective developers may submit proposals at any time during the NEP project. The NEP project will close on 30 September 2021 and all the claims for payments towards mini-grid projects from the World Bank funds should be submitted before that date.
