Abstract
PRAN, one of Bangladesh largest food processing companies, has in recent years set up a network of dairy hubs and village milk collection centres to help them source milk from small farmers and to provide those farmers with a steady source of income. The network has been highly successful; however, chilling the milk while it waits for collection is expensive and carbon-intensive, as power cuts average over 6 hours a day and diesel generators need to be used as back-up for the chillers. REEEP supported Enerplus, a small international consultancy company, to set up a pilot project with PRAN to equip the milk collection centres with clean energy technology. The results of this pilot, and the plans for a scale-up covering PRAN's entire dairy hub network, can be found in this brochure.
