Description
Ramgarh Micro Hydro Power Plant stands out to be one of the most successful endeavors of UREDA (Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency) towards establishing Uttarakhand as an 'Urja Pradesh' (‘Energy State), that is, as a state having energy production as its prime activity. In order to make self-dependent the 63 percent population living in villages and to compliment and supplement electricity supply, under a special initiative, UREDA undertook an the arduous task of setting up Micro Hydel Projects in different parts of the state. Under this initiative, 42 Micro Hydel Projects have already been set up and operationalized and 20 MHPs are under construction in different parts of Uttarakhand.
