History of energypedia

It all started at the end of 2007, when the Dutch-German Energy Partnership "Energising Development" (EnDev) first tested some wikis for internal use like organizing our weekly meeting more efficiently. In 2008 we developed a concept for using a wiki for knowledge and project management for the 22 country projects of EnDev worldwide. After some beta-testing we launched the internal EnDev-Wiki in January 2009. The number of users increased rapidly and even non-EnDev colleagues heard of it and requested accounts. As a result we decided to open the wiki for non-EnDev users by the end of 2009. This development prompted us to think about launching a general wiki for renewable energy and development cooperation. The idea of energypedia was born. After six months of development energypedia was launched on the 8th June of 2010.
