Description
‘Africa in transition - A bright future for energy and local communities’, is a two-day event organised by the European funded projects Smart Energy Solutions for Africa (SESA) and Energy access in urban and rural Africa (ENERGICA) that showcases the triumphs and challenges of renewable energy solutions in Africa - as well as avenues for their development and scalability.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to the energy transition. Across Africa, local communities (and contexts) are the best places for shaping unique energy solutions. Innovation and natural resource conservation have been at the root of solutions relating to electric mobility, water treatment, clean cooking, mini-grids and more. It is becoming increasingly clear - the African energy transition is local and increasingly sustainable.

At ‘Africa in transition’, participants will hear from those directly involved in the piloting of energy solutions in eleven African countries (Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa and Tanzania). Sessions will explore the key enabling factors to the progress of these solutions, like policy and legislative measures, private investment, and capacity-building and training.

The solutions shared throughout the event have been developed by SESA and ENERGICA projects. The metamorphosis of these project-fostered solutions will be an important point of discussion, as both projects enter their final year.
