Today’s youth will inherit a housing stock that is inefficient, leading to high energy demand, high energy bills and high GHG emissions. As climate change accelerates, the need for cooling will add new pressures.
Under the title, Efficient, affordable housing as a core element of social justice, students from Bulgaria, Italy and Spain will share their ideas for future housing that aligns with the three principles of the New European Bauhaus: sustainable, beautiful and inclusive.
Aware that millions of EU citizens live in homes that perpetuate systemic injustices, ‘Yconickers’ will probe the problem from four perspectives: Climate and energy Housing and social justice Design and community life Youth voice and democracy Yconic is keen to have experts from the buildings and energy efficiency sectors join to hear what youth have to say…and support their ongoing engagement in this global challenge.
