Description
The climate commitments made at COP26 have the potential to slow a rapidly warming climate, but countries must devise bold strategies to meet revised global mitigation targets. In the lead up to COP27 in Cairo, governments are being encouraged to update their Nationally Determined Contribution, NDCs, to be more ambitious with the aim of avoiding the devastating effects of 1.5 degree warming.

In making these commitments, policymakers must leverage the most effective measures, including appliance efficiency policy – a cost effective and proven mitigation tool. CLASP’s recent paper, “Integrating Appliance Efficiency into Nationally Determined Contributions” provides evidence and recommendations that argue for the inclusion of appliance efficiency in updated NDCs.

Join us for a webinar with CLASP Research Manager, Lauren Boucher, as she presents on the key findings and recommendations of the report. Following the presentation, Kevin Lane from the International Energy Agency will speak on his experiences working with governments to achieve climate commitments through appliance efficiency – most recently in relation to implementation efforts around the SEAD Product Efficiency Call to Action.

Presenters: Lauren Boucher, CLASP Research Manager
