Description
By preserving and nurturing their rainforest lands, indigenous people create climate benefits for everyone. When these communities are threatened, we are all in danger. Please join Ashden, BloombergNEF (BNEF) and frontline innovators to examine how a market-based approach can encourage investment in natural climate solutions that deliver for people and planet.

The event will explore successful initiatives powered by indigenous and local communities in the Amazon and rainforest areas of Southeast Asia.

Action to boost the resilience of indigenous communities – through improved land and governance rights, or economic empowerment – is crucial, particularly as these groups grapple with the coronavirus pandemic.

Well-targeted investment that supports indigenous groups leads to enhanced biodiversity, better soil health and carbon reductions. But communities rarely benefit from flows of finance within the voluntary carbon market.

With interest in natural climate solutions growing ahead of COP26, this session will bring grassroots voices to the table – and ask how finance and investment can support them and their work.
