Under this year’s theme, “Climate Spark: Igniting Action Across Communities, Cities, and Sectors,” the Academy connects like-minded changemakers in a growing international climate network, and helps spark renewed urgency, enthusiasm, and collective action for a climate-positive future.
At a time when geopolitical instability and competing crises risk slowing climate momentum, the IKEM Academy brings together an international community of people committed to building a greener, fairer, and more resilient future. Over four inspiring days, participants from around the world exchange ideas, build new collaborations, and explore practical solutions to accelerate climate action and the energy transition. Through participatory workshops, expert talks, co-creative exercises, and site visits across Berlin and Brandenburg, participants will:
- Apply design-thinking principles to reimagine the sustainable city of tomorrow
- Visit and learn from Feldheim, Germany’s pioneering renewable energy village
- Explore climate litigation and develop their own climate case
- Dive into social innovation and discover how to build an energy cooperative
- Discuss the next phase of renewable energy expansion, including AI and data centres
- Learn how decentralised renewable systems can strengthen resilience in times of crisis
- Explore the links between climate action, equality, and diversity
- Engage with breakthrough technologies shaping the future energy system
- Discover how storytelling, media, and positive climate narratives can inspire action and hope
