|| Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Training for Coastal Cities
|| ICLEI Africa
|| Training Courses (Duration: 24-27 Feb)
|| African cities, and particularly African coastal cities, are some of the most vulnerable to climate change. But with the right knowledge and capacity, these cities can be prepared to adapt to the impacts of climate change and build resilient cities that will thrive in an uncertain future.
This is why ICLEI Africa, with the support from the Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA), is hosting an interactive and participatory four-day regional training workshop where coastal cities in Africa can begin to develop Climate Change Adaptation Action Plans (CCAPs) with a specific focus on coasts. These action plans are the first and essential step in building more resilient coastal cities.
The training workshop is scheduled to take place in Cape Town, South Africa from 24-27 February 2020.
The course will be highly interactive and participatory to allow cities to gain practical knowledge and relevant climate change adaptation knowledge. Each city will also design their own skeleton CCAP with support from the experts at ICLEI Africa.
The training course is open to coastal cities in Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, South Africa and Mauritius. If you are a town planner, environmental or marine officer, disaster manager or scientist working on relevant coastal issues, you are invited to apply for this fully funded training workshop.
