Eligibility/Description
The IMD Center for Social Innovation, Humanitarian Innovative Finance Hub (HIFHUB), Lombard Odier Foundation, and World Economic Forum invite humanitarian and development institutions, government representatives, private sector actors, and entrepreneurs working in humanitarian and development settings to submit project proposals for the fourth cohort of the Driving Innovative Finance for Impact (DIFI) program.
We are seeking participants who can submit projects with the potential to transition from traditional grant funding models to investment-readiness through innovative approaches to partnering and financing. This program is designed to support actors who are exploring new ways to attract public and private capital, scale solutions, and sustain long-term impact.
What We’re Looking For:
We invite organizations to nominate projects and participants who will lead and/or work on projects that operate in humanitarian, conflict-affected, and/or low-income contexts and meet the following criteria:
- Are at a stage where innovative approaches to partnering and financing can unlock additionality in terms of impact, resources and efficiencies. This may (not exhaustive) include:
- Proof-of-concept initiatives seeking to scale beyond grant funding to public and/or private financing
- Early-stage ventures that need support structuring revenue models or hybrid capital structures
- Social enterprises or NGOs in humanitarian value chains
- Projects with strong impact metrics but unclear pathways towards financial sustainability and/or risk-return profiles for investors
- Projects that require strong partnerships across the humanitarian, development and private sectors
- Present a theory of change and some measurable impact framework and track record
- The project lead and/or team that is nominated must be values driven, and highly motivated to work in a collaborative, learning environment
What the DIFI Progam Offers:
Selected projects will receive:
- Scholarship for the project lead of the selected projects (contact IMD for more details)
- Strategic mentorship by experienced professionals in humanitarian finance on investable value propositions, financial models and investor pitch material
- Support in articulating the investment thesis and risk-sharing strategy
- Access to a curated network of humanitarian and development finance institutions, governments, philanthropic capital, and impact investors
- Visibility through our global ecosystem of partners and funders (previous DIFI cohorts, mentors, experts, panelists)
