| The Government of Uganda has received a Project Preparation Grant from the Strategic Climate Fund, through the African Development Bank towards the cost of the Decentralized Renewables Development Program and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this grant to payments under the contract for Consultancy Services to develop an Off-Grid Electrification Master Plan for the Islands on Lake Victoria and Pilot net-Metering using Grid-tie PV Solar Systems.
The services included under this project are:
1- Develop an off-grid master plan for the electrification of islands on Lake Victoria. The master plan will serve to prioritize investments and be the basis for the electrification of the islands in an orderly and sequential manner.
2- Identify suitable sites to install net-metering pilot solar PV rooftop systems on public building, prepare design, specifications and bidding documents and support procurement of the pilot solar PV rooftop systems.
3- . Draft regulations, legislation and standards required to scale-up net metering. The objective is to eventually put in place appropriate policies, laws, regulation, and standards for solar grid-connected rooftop systems that will lay the foundation for net metering to be scaled-up by private users such as businesses and households.
The Rural Electrification Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development now invites consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services.
