About the Summit
The 2026 Summit on Clean Cooking in Africa will convene global leaders in Nairobi to address the impacts of the current energy crisis and ensure continued advancement of clean cooking efforts. It will bring together governments, industry, and the international community to mobilise new commitments aimed at strengthening secure access to affordable, clean cooking solutions. The Summit builds on the inaugural 2024 Summit, which mobilised USD 2.2 billion in commitments and catalysed renewed policy action across African countries.
The Summit programme consists of:
- Day 1 (9 July) — High-level plenary sessions focused on ensuring secure and affordable access to clean cooking for all
- Day 2 (10 July) — Three thematic tracks open to broader expert engagement:
- Track 1: Policies — coordinated by the African Union (through AFREC)
- Track 2: Financing — coordinated by the African Development Bank
- Track 3: Fuels, Technologies & Market Development — coordinated by the Clean Cooking Alliance
Alongside Days 1 and 2, a Clean Cooking Solutions Exhibition will showcase companies and technologies.
What We Are Looking For
The IEA and track leads welcome proposals from governments, international organisations, development finance institutions, private sector companies, civil society organisations, and research bodies that can contribute meaningfully to one of the Day 2 thematic tracks.
Contributions may take the form of:
- Session proposals — proposed session anchored by a concrete, trackable outcome (e.g. new commitment, working group agreement, or partnership launch). Sessions should not be primarily presentational; proposals must clearly state the outcome aimed to deliver and how it will be tracked as a Summit result.
- Evidence and analysis — data, research, or tools that can inform track sessions or the Summit's outcome documents.
