|| Energy Saving Trust has an exciting opportunity for you to join their Operational Delivery team in London. EST is a leading and trusted organisation, helping people save energy every day. Their work includes delivery of large-scale household appliance testing and product standard-setting, verification and labelling schemes, projects in the area of water efficiency and low energy lighting and field trials with standard-setting for new and emerging renewable technologies, as well as large-scale off-grid appliances projects working on market development in developing countries.
The Operational Delivery team operates in the areas of product assurance and verification, energy labelling, clean technologies and the coordination and delivery of multi-partner projects. This role will primarily provide technical knowledge to the delivery of multi-disciplinary off-grid international projects, European wide products and appliances projects and activities, as well as UK based appliance certification and endorsed schemes.
One of the main projects this role will work on is a project focused on off-grid appliances market development in Africa and South Asia funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID). The Low Energy Inclusive Appliances (LEIA) project aims to support the market in halving the cost and doubling the efficiency of a range of off and weak-grid appliances. EST co-manages the LEIA project alongside the US partner organisation, CLASP. The area of the project that this role will be involved in is: enhancing the sector’s knowledge on testing, through best practices and data dissemination, and increasing adoption of quality assurance criteria for off-grid appropriate appliances and productive uses, as well as strengthening technical foundations for existing product types and expanding testing expertise for new product types.
You will be a confident and experienced project manager with an in-depth knowledge of energy efficiency, a good understanding of renewables and a good technical working knowledge of energy efficient and renewable products. Ideally a solid understanding of the off-grid market and technologies would be desirable. You will oversee and deliver all elements of contract management including project management, monitoring and reporting, financial planning and analysis, tendering, creating and implementing processes and procedures for subcontractors and project team members.
Your ability to plan and prioritise multiple competing activities and drive and negotiate to influence results through people is essential in this fast-paced international environment. Your solid project management skills and technical acumen, and advanced communication skills will be key for this role.
As the project partners are internationally based the post holder will need to manage their time to fit with different time zones. As well as this the post holder may need to be available to travel to parts of Africa and South Asia (approx. 2-4 times a year).
