|| Energy Saving Trust has an exciting opportunity for you to join the Operational Delivery team in their London office.The team operates in the areas of product assurance and verification, energy labelling, clean technologies and the coordination and delivery of multi-partner projects. This role will primarily be focused on the delivery of a multi-disciplinary off-grid appliance competition within one of their collaborative international programme.
EST co-manages a programme focused on off-grid appliances market development in Africa and South Asia funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID). The Low Energy Inclusive Appliances (LEIA) programme aims to support the market to halve the cost and double the efficiency of a range of off and weak-grid appliances. The programme spans over five years working with the US partner organisation CLASP - an evolving, international, non-profit organization with offices, programmes and projects around the world.
Through the LEIA programme, with support from Engineers without Borders UK, they have established the Efficiency for Access (EforA) Design Challenge, a multi-disciplinary competition for 3rd and 4th year university students. It aims to inspire students interested in the energy access sector, to appropriately design, inclusive, super-efficient off-grid appliances. The Challenge also aims to build academic capacity in the sector of off-grid appliances, as well as, to forge beneficial partnerships between universities, researchers and industry.
You will be a confident and experienced project manager with an interest in energy efficiency and policy. You will have experience organising competitions or events, ideally within the energy access sector, in order to manage the strategy and delivery of the EforA Design Challenge. You will oversee and deliver all elements of contract management including project management, monitoring, reporting, financial planning and analysis, tendering, creating and implementing processes and procedures for subcontractors and project team members.
Your ability to plan and prioritise multiple competing activities and drive and negotiate to influence results through people is essential in this fast-paced international environment. Your solid project management skills and financial acumen, as well as, advanced communication skills will underpin the successful delivery of the Challenge.
As the project partners will be internationally based the post holder will need to manage their time to fit with different time zones. As well as this the post holder will need to be available to travel to parts of Africa and South Asia (approx. 1-2 time a year).
