More than 150 experts from 26 countries participated in SNV International Workshop on Domestic Biogas (10-12 November 2009), which ended with the celebration of the 200,000th constructed biogas plant in Nepal under the SNV-supported programme and was attended by various international donors and government ministers.
 
  
 
How to improve and how to scale-up domestic biogas practises around the world, were among the key discussion issues at the event. Among the discussants representatives of private and civil society organisations, government institutes, knowledge centres, development agencies and international donors during the Workshop. A variety of topics were discussed: realising multiple benefits of biogas, carbon finance components in biogas programmes, the importance of the private sector in SNV's market oriented sector development approach and cost price reduction initiatives to expand the target group of potential biogas users. The Working Group on Domestic Biogas under the ADB Energy for All Partnership was officially launched.
