Eligibility/Description
Global Clean Energy Action Forum (GCEAF) and CEM13/MI7 in Pittsburgh

The Global Clean Energy Action Forum (GCEAF) is a joint convening of the 13th Clean Energy Ministerial and 7th Mission Innovation (CEM13/MI7) in Pittsburgh, USA which will gather over 1,000 leaders from government, industry, and civil society for an action-oriented agenda for advancing the global clean energy transition. Student Energy is working with GCEAF to bring 50 young leaders 18-30 years-old to this year’s global forum to directly engage with governments and clean energy companies from around the world, to learn about initiatives underway, and to advocate for their role leading clean energy solutions as young leaders. Fifty participants will be selected to participate in the forum's new youth engagement track, the Creating the Energy Future Forum (CEFF), and the main program in Pittsburgh, PA from September 21-23, 2022.

This program builds off the success of the CEM/MI Youth Program in 2019 and will provide participants with unique learning and networking opportunities. The program will provide a platform for how young leaders are working on the use of and development of innovative technologies, innovative investment and finance, advancing gender and social equity, and the growing role of green jobs and closing the clean energy careers gap. Youth will also be invited to attend parts of the ministerial meeting events, take part in dialogue discussions, participate in mentorship programs, and join a Policy Hackathon to address obstacles holding back the creation and adoption of key clean energy policies and projects.

Student Energy empowers youth to become change agents who will shape our energy future. We work with actors in the energy system to create a space for young people to have a voice in decision-making and accelerate innovation in industry and government. By participating in CEFF, youth are joining a network of over 50,000 young people across 130 countries that make up Student Energy’s movement. All participants will be supported through the Student Energy chapters program that will provide capacity building, peer support and connections to our global network.

Mission Innovation (MI) is a global initiative to catalyze innovation in the development of new clean energy technologies. The Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) is a global forum to promote policies and programs that advance the deployment of clean energy technologies. Together, these organizations represent the clean energy innovation-to-deployment spectrum, and they work together to accelerate the global energy transition. You can find additional background regarding workstreams and member countries at the CEM and MI websites.
