Introduction

With the burgeoning population and rapid urbanization as well as industrialization, the demand for basic energy services is increasing in India. This creates an opportunity for renewable energy to flourish in the Indian Market. IGEF (Indo- German Energy Forum) has highlighted the Indian renewable energy market as well as the actors in this market via the two below mentioned publications.

Publication : A Collection of Case Studies on Applications Integrating Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Technologies

To promote clean energy technologies and the private sector cooperation in its activities, the IGEF Support Office has come out with this publication that presents 7 case studies on applications that integrate renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. This is a unique publication that not only brings into light the synergies between these two subsectors within the energy sector, but also highlights the fact that these applications are running successfully for some time now. These applications developed by private sector companies both from India and from Germany, are in sectors that range from solar cooling and heating to banking and telecom sectors apart from energy storage as well. This clearly shows the need for their further proliferation that would not only contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of a country, but also remove the need to put up new fossil fuel based power plants.
