Renewable Energies in Bolivia
Introduction
Since May 2016, the Renewable Energies Programme (PEERR) supports Bolivia improving the regulatory framework for the expansion of renewable energies in electricity grid-connections and increasing energy efficiency.
The Program supports the Bolivian government in creating better conditions for the development of renewable energy, with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, it means a greater diversification of the energy matrix, which at present is basically fossil - water. In addition, within the scope of the PEERR, the potentialities of energy efficiency and the measures for its application will be identified.
The Program have different levels of intervention: At the national level, PEERR will consult the Government about renewable energiesregulations and energy efficiency. At the regional level, the Programme will advise energy companies and cooperatives in the planning, construction and operation of wind and solar photovoltaic projects that are connected to the national grid. In addition, advice will be given on the implementation of hybrid photovoltaic/diesel systems for the supply of energy in populations that are far from the grid connection.
In the academic area, the Program will support institutions for training in demand topics, making the educational subjects and the introduction of practical training. Germany has a lot of experience in the field of renewable energies, energy efficiency, technological know-how; which allow us to develop innovative application ideas that may be useful for Bolivia.
