Last Update:

InterOil Ltd. is the only fuel company in Papua New Guinea. The official „Independent Consumer and Competition Commission“ (ICCC) supervises fuel prices by monitoring actual costs (import parity prices and freight costs) and setting wholesale and retailer margins to fixed values.

On the website http://www.iccc.gov.pg, ICCC offers good information on the fuel pricing mechanism and the role of the ICCC as a controlling and monitoring commission. Also, reasons for price changes are explained in press statements, including a full pump price breakdown. However, information is out-dated; the last published price breakdown is as of June 2009.
