Abstract
By 2040, USD 7 trillion will be invested in renewable energy; 72% of it in new wind and solar PV plants. Solar is already as cheap as coal in some countries and the levelised cost of electricity from solar will drop another 66% by 2040. By 2021, solar will be cheaper than coal even in China. These are some of the findings of the New Energy Outlook released by the Bloomberg New Energy Finance.
