In October 2022, CLASP and Nithio, with support from the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP), launched the Productive Use Appliance Financing Facility to catalyze the uptake of productive use appliances across Africa through improved appliance affordability. Today, the Financing Facility launches its first public auction window for procurement subsidies.

Eligible distributors can also apply for capacity-building small grants to offset one-off costs associated with nascent PUA business lines, such as warehouse space, staffing, or training. The procurement subsidies and capacity-building grants will allow eligible companies to lower costs for customers while investing in long-term growth. The Facility will be receiving applications until 21 April 2023.

These are the appliances & countries in scope:

Countries: DRC, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone & Uganda

Appliances: electric pressure cookers (EPCs), fans, milling, solar water pumps (SWPs), refrigerators/freezers & walk-in cold storage.

Interested companies should apply by 21 April 2023. Please reach out to financing@clasp.ngo in case of any questions.
