Last Update:

Fuel prices in Luxembourg are among the cheapest in the EU. The Ministry of Economy publishes mandatory maximum fuel prices, several times a month (http://www.eco.public.lu/). However, there could be found no information on how this calculation is being done and on what data this calculation bases. Probably, it very much depends on the Rotterdam market price.

The official website http://www.carbu.lu/ gives a comprehensive overview over up-to-date pump prices for all stations across the country. The government tries to strengthen the fuel retail market by offering customers a maximum of transparency. A very similar project can be found in France.

There is an excise duty for gasoline of 0,462€ per litre (http://www.energy.eu/#fueltaxes).

There is a 15% VAT on fuels in Luxembourg (http://www.eco.public.lu/).

Up-to-date information including (calculatory) margins are yet missing, any hints welcome!
