The „Ministério da Coordenacao Económica“ is in charge of regulating fuel prices.
On their website there is no information available concering the pricing of fuel.
However, from the low prices, being only little above the price for crude oil, it is quite obvious that fuels are subsidized in Angola. Several newspaper articles support this assumption (→Appendix A1 and A2).
In a radio interview from September 2010, the national director for macroeconomic policies, Carlos Panzo, said, that prices rise in Angola due to an ongoing reduction of fuel subsidies. Due to this interview, the budget savings arising from reducing the subsidies shall be invested into social projects as “education, health and social care” (→Appendix A1). Due to the same article, fuel subsidies in Angola sum up to 4 billion dollars a year (as of 2010), which is equivalent to 6% of GDP.
It can be assumed that prices change seldomly, as the rise of prices of September 2010 seems to be the last price change as of November 29th 2010.
