Abstract The objective is to supply least-cost electric power in a safe and environmentally and socially sustainable way.

The document includes an example of economic and financial analysis:

  • The economic analysis deals with the macroeconomic outlook and risks, economic costs/benefits, sensitivity analysis and risk assessment;
  • The financial analysis deals with the financial viability, that is measured on the basis of the financial internal rate of return (FIRR). The FIRR is then compared to the project cost of funds, as estimated by the weighted average cost of capital (WACC). The project is considered financially viable if the FIRR is equal to or greater than the WACC.
