Renewable Energy Intitiatives

PPP in Infrastructure Resource Center for Contracts, Laws and Regulation

The Public-Private Partnership in Infrastructure Resource Center for Contracts, Laws and Regulation (PPPIRC) is a World Bank resource containing sample public-private partnership (PPP) agreements and concessions, checklists and sample clauses, terms of reference, risk matrices, standard bidding documents developed by government agencies and sample PPP and sector legislation and regulation. It is designed for government officials, project managers and lawyers involved in PPP infrastructure projects and will help you to address contractual and legal issues related to infrastructure legal reform and PPP projects. WBI Energy Learning Portal

The World Bank Institute (WBI) is a global connector of knowledge, learning and innovation for poverty reduction. It connects practitioners and institutions to help them find suitable solutions to their development challenges. With a focus on the "how" of reform, the WBI links knowledge from around the world and scale up innovations.

The objective of the Energy Learning Portal is to share operational knowledge and practitioner experience on how to identify and implement projects and programs that promote sustainable energy. At present, more than 75 percent of energy consumed comes from burning fossil fuels, which produces greenhouse gases that cause climate change. To reduce the energy sector’s impact on the climate, we must enhance energy efficiency and transition to low-carbon renewable energy sources. The future of energy is in smarter energy; countries are making ever-bigger investments and developing expertise, laying the foundation for sustained green development and prosperity.

IRENA Renewable Energy Learning Partnership (IRELP)

The IRENA Renewable Energy Learning Partnership (IRELP) is an IRENA project dedicated to developing and promoting renewable energy education and training. It currently provides a global database of education and training opportunities, a library of renewable energy training materials, a database that includes both past and upcoming webinars; and an e-learning platform (Academy) where students receive support through e-learning lectures and tutorials. In the future, IRELP will also provide a knowledge exchange corner (Forum) where training providers, professors and experts participate in discussions and share views on various renewable energy issues.

Open Energy Information (OpenEI)

Open Energy Information (OpenEI) is a knowledge sharing online community dedicated to connecting people with the latest energy information and data. By providing access to energy-related information via geographic discovery, visualizations and apps, and topic-oriented gateways, OpenEI can help you find the answers you need to make better, more informed decisions.

IEA/IRENA Global Renewable Energy Policies and Measures Database

Since 1999, the IEA’s Policies and Measures Databases offer access to information on energy-related policies and measures taken or planned to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency and support renewable energy development and deployment. This online service aims to complement the policy analysis carried out by the IEA and covers measures taken in IEA member countries. Delegates from IEA member countries are given the opportunity to review information in the databases twice a year. In addition, the databases include some information on policies and measures in Brazil, China, the European Union, India, Mexico, Russia and South Africa.

The IEA/IRENA Global Renewable Energy Policies and Measures Database provides information on policies and measures taken or planned to encourage the uptake of renewable energy in all IEA and IRENA Member countries and signatories. The Global Renewable Energy policies and measures database also includes some information on additional non-IEA countries.

reegle - Clean Energy Information Portal

www.reegle.info is a content-rich clean energy portal provided by REEEP and REN21 that is focused on unlocking clean energy information and data. Besides its clean energy search, which covers more than 2000 high quality websites and databases it provides country energy profiles drawn from various reliable open data sources. A clean energy and climate change glossary and thesaurus gives clear definitions and maps related terms. Its free reegle Tagging API helps other clean energy websites by automatically tagging their content for searchability, and suggests related web resources.

GIZ Renewable Energy Project

The main focus of the project is developing grid-connected renewable energy systems in Vietnam. In this regard, the project provides assistance to the Ministry of Industry and Trade as it draws up regulations on feeding into the grid electricity derived from waste and waste water (bioenergy) from agriculture, industry and municipalities. The project also promotes the training of specialists at central and local level. Moreover, an information system for renewable energy aims to advance the development of additional projects and mitigate the risks involved in the financing and technical implementation of investment measures. Lastly, the project assists local and national authorities with the development of guidelines and standards as well as with planning and approval for renewable energy projects. Exchanges and consultation missions at regional and international level serve to consolidate knowledge and create a platform for international dialogue.
