Type of Event Session on : Socio-Economic and Environmental Benefits of Renewable Energy
Objective(s) To discuss the socio-economic and environmental impact and benefits of RE, based on current national and regional experiences and outcomes of ongoing and concluded studies
Participants Different stakeholders from public and private sectors, research institutions, developing agencies and international players and diplomates.

Discussion Points
  1. Interrelation between energy mix, energy access and climate change and its impact on the socio-economic aspects.
  2. Recommendations to improve the implementation of RE projects
  3. The socio-economic dimension of RE and EE and its impact
  4. Importance of including socio-economic aspects also in the legal framework
  5. Important of promoting investments and its impact on the socio-economic aspects
Main Outcomes The session concluded that regional cooperation and cooperation between stakeholders is necessary to bring in new participants and to boost the future of RE.
