Job description
The Advisor for Energy and Low Carbon Development is a regional role focused on supporting access to energy and low carbon development programming – ensuring that our programming accelerates equitable economic growth while reducing the risk of climate change and degradation of environmental resources through the access of sustainable, reliable and affordable energy. The position will draw on Mercy Corps’ global experience working at the nexus of market systems development, climate change adaptation, access to energy, food security and nutrition, land use and natural resource management, disaster response and recovery, and governance. The Advisor will be instrumental in helping Mercy Corps define strategy and implement programming for a new climate economy that maximizes economic, social, and environmental co-benefits.The Advisor will provide strong technical advice and training in areas related to access to energy and low carbon development, including: program design and development; program quality; network and representation at key sector forums; and lead strategic partnerships and contribute to strategic discussions (internally and externally). Together with Mercy Corps program teams, the Advisor will help to design new initiatives and programs; develop competitive proposals for submission to donors; lead liaisons with program partners and reinforce stakeholder communication, including with senior leadership and policy advocates; ensure that programs are meeting high standards for technical quality; advise on monitoring tools; support program start-up; support project documentation; recommend opportunities for research and evidence building to broaden impact; and play an active role in disseminating lessons learned.
