Let There Be Light International

  • Let There Be Light International was founded in 2014 and is based in United States .
  • Type of organisation: NGO

Let There Be Light International (LTBLI) was founded in 2014 to address climate change and entrenched energy poverty through global advocacy and direct programming in sub-Saharan Africa. We believe in an all-hands-on-deck approach to leaving no one behind as we work to achieve Agenda2030 and advocate for energy access to be included in social safety net programming to address the health, safety and wellbeing of off-grid communities. LTBLI participates in the UN NGO MG, Women's MG + Catalyst2030

Key Activities
Let There Be Light International works with grassroots NGOs to solar-electrify prioritized health clinics in Uganda and to distribute pico lights to resource-constrained, off-grid homes with members in one or more M.O.D.E.S. (Mothers, Orphans, Persons living with a Disability, Elders, Students).
  • 56 rural Health Centers (II and III) have received 300-500 Watt solar systems
  • 21,000 households have received pico lights
  • Safe Births + Healthy Homes is our signature maternal/infant health project - pairing clinic electrification with community education and an incentive of a solar light for new mothers who deliver at the clinics.
  • Lights4Literacy is our signature educational project - pairing books with pico lights.
