Under the supervision of Director IITC,the Deputy Directorwill fulfil the following dutiesand responsibilities:
- Act as the principal adviserto the Director of the Division formulating and implementing the substantive and technical work programme of the Division.
- Supports and strengthens the programmatic work and delivery in cooperation with substantive managers.
- Collaborates with the IITC Director and Project Leads in the Division in the development and conceptualization of the work program, ensuring alignment with the strategic direction of the division and organizational goals.
- Supports the Director in strategically positioning the IRENA Innovation and Technology Centre as a leading institution in the field of renewable energy innovation and technology.
- Leads the coordination of IITC’s input to major cross-divisions projects of the Agency, particularly the World Energy Transitions Outlook (WETO) Project.
- Promotes and spearheads outreach efforts, effectively engaging with stakeholders and audiences to advance the mission and objectives of the organization.
- Supports independently and deputizises the Director in the overall management of the Division, overseeing its activities and ensuring that programmed activities are carried out in a timely fashion and coordinated both within the Division, other *Divisions and departments and with other organizations, as appropriate.
- Facilitates the establishment of strategic partnerships to support the Division's activities, including the negotiation and execution of partnership agreements, memorandums of understanding, and other relevant modalities.
- Participate in directors meetingsand senior management group meetings.
- Supports in close collaboration with the division director the preparation of documents for Assembly and Council.
- Oversees and guides the development of analytical and conceptual reports aimed at addressing the challenges and opportunities in the energy transition, ensuring the quality and relevance of the output
- Leads and supervises the organization of constitutional meetingsand Ministerials on divisional content related matters.
- Supportsthe division in the mobilization of funding.
- Manages,guides, develops and trains staff under his/hersupervision; coaches and supports programatic leaders as needed.
- Develops and maintains relations with senior government officials and other relevant actors. Cooperates and coordinates, as necessary, with other departments of the agency as well as other entities.
- Represents the Division at international, regionalor national meetings.
- Perform other tasks as required.
Competencies
Professionalism: Knowledge of renewable energy, power systems, innovation, electrification, end use sectors; as well as ability to provide specialized advice on technology and innovation. Good knowledge of various governmental and NGO policies, processes and procedures; political astuteness and sound judgment to handle sensitive issues and cultivate productive relationships.

Requirements
Education: Advanced university degree in Social Sciences,Business Management, Law, Engineering or any other related and relevant area.
Work Experience: A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in programme management, and performance reporting, or related field, including demonstrated work experience at international level. Proven affinity with environmental and/or engineering issues is an advantage
Language: Excellent commandof written and spoken Englishis required. Knowledge of other languages is desirable.
