Energy situation
Fossil fuels dominates Mexico's energy situation, regarding Oil Mexico is ranked as the 7[6] biggest producers in the World and this is reflected in the energy mix:
In 2009 from the 9852.9 PJ (primary energy) produced more than 90% of this came from fossil fuels.
Primary energy |
Porcentage |
---|---|
Fosil fueles | 92.7% |
Nuclear | 1.1% |
Renewables | 6.2% |
The electricity generation is also dominated for fossil fuels, 71% of the Electricity comes from Thermal Power plants, most of them in Combined Cycle .
During the 2009 the electricity generated was 268200 GWh from a total installed capacity of 60440 MW (by Dec 2009)[7]
