As the world´s largest market for electric vehicles (EVs), China has gained significant experience with handling the electricity loads from charging such vehicles, as well as optimizing charging and grid investments.
In parallel, the growing share of decentral renewable energy sources and utilization of EVs will result in a more variable energy supply and a modification of load schemes. Efforts to optimize EV charging and using their battery as temporary storage can help to stabilize the grid and improve power system flexibility. This specifically applies to rural areas with high vehicle ownership and dependence.
The Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue is hosted and supported by the German Federal Government and is a joint initiative of the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE), the German Solar Association (BSW), the German Energy Agency (dena) and eclareon.
