Description

In July 20th and 21st the 1st International Conference on Sustainable Energy in São Tomé and Príncipe will take place and is being organised by ALER - Lusophone Renewable Energy Association, in partnership with the General Directorate for Natural Resources and Energy (DGRNE) of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Natural Resources (MIRN) of São Tomé and Príncipe, and with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (ONUDI). Registration in the Conference is free but mandatory.

This Conference is part of the Project "Strategic Programme to Promote Investments in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in the Electricity Sector of São Tomé and Príncipe", implemented by ONUDI, DGRNE and ALER, with the aim of promoting renewable energy in São Tomé and Príncipe and South-South cooperation with other Portuguese-speaking countries.

During the two-day conference, the current situation of renewable energy and energy efficiency in São Tomé and Príncipe will be presented, as well as the objectives, strategies and solutions to make the country’s energy transition a reality by 2030 and 2050, established through the adoption of the National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP) and the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP).

The event will also include an institutional and business mission to São Tomé and Príncipe between July 16 and 23, to foster contact between different institutions and stakeholders, promoting bilateral meetings and matchmaking sessions, and demonstrate on-site the pipeline of projects in São Tomé and Príncipe.
