Fuel Pricing Policies

Local Currency: XPF

Last Update:

The Tahiti government sets fixed fuel prices. The Ministry of Economy publishes minister council decisions, which include price settings for motor fuels (http://www.mef.gov.pf, →App. A1). The ministry states, that fuel price changes are calculated based on actual import prices. The exact formula for the price calculation, however, could not be found on the ministries website.

According to an internet article (→App. A2), there are only three retailers of fuel products in Tahiti: Mobil, Total and Shell. 100% of the fuel is being imported from Singapore. Since prices are completely fixed, there is only a competition on quality/service among the three retailers.
