Energypedia also offers the possibility to include formulas in an article. To insert a formula:

1. Open the article in edit mode and switch to "wiki text editor"

Show Wiki Text Editor.JPG

2. Click on "Mathematical formula (LaTeX)"

The Wikitext code for an example formula looks like this:

 <math>
 \operatorname{erfc}(x) =
 \frac{2}{\sqrt{\pi}} \int_x^{\infty} e^{-t^2}\,dt =
 \frac{e^{-x^2}}{x\sqrt{\pi}}\sum_{n=0}^\infty (-1)^n \frac{(2n)!}{n!(2x)^{2n}}
 </math>

Which results in a formula like this:

What you see is:

  • The overall formula needs to be enclosed by tags.
  • The formula itself is written in (rather complicated to understand for first-time users) LaTeX code
