Eligibility/Description
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 75 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and provides assistance within shelter, education, livelihood and food security, information counselling and legal assistance, and water, sanitation and hygiene as well as protection. We work in crises across 31 countries, where we help save lives and rebuild futures. In 2020 we assisted more than 11 million people.

As part of the project known as “Greening the Orange”, NRC has in the last year worked to define its strategy to become more environmentally sustainable. This includes developing a plan for how NRC will work to turn into reality its ambitious pledge to work towards becoming carbon neutral. It also includes increasing the environmental sustainability of our programmes.

To support the latter, we are looking for a consultant to help us define what steps we will need to take to ensure the “do no harm” towards the environment as a result of our programmes, and in cooperation with Global Managers, define what NRC will set as minimum standards for integration of environmental aspects as part of our programmes.
