Energy poverty affects men and women differently, with gender inequalities playing a significant role on the capacity of women to accumulate resources through value added economic activities. A clear nexus between energy access and women’s poverty is widely documented, as women’s needs for energy have a practical, productive and strategic impact on their lives, and by extension the lives of the communities.
While many studies looked at women and entrepreneurship, a smaller body of research explores the role of women in facilitating energy access, as clean energy entrepreneurs and as agents of change in their communities.
The scope of this publication is to highlight best practices, lessons learned and key measures to be implemented for accelerating energy access through women’s involvement
in the clean energy value chain.
