[[Job description::Role Description

This is an excellent client-facing opportunity to lead the coordination and delivery oversight of a high impact portfolio of sustainable energy access projects. For this role, we are looking for a passionate professional who will be given the opportunity to continue their growth into an energy access sector expert and who will be able independently to assess, articulate and implement opportunities for enhancing project and programme delivery. The successful candidate will work with a diverse range of stakeholders and project partners, located around the globe, steering and supporting projects towards successful delivery. You will be Carbon Trust’s visible ‘face’ of the thematic portfolio for which you are responsible and will ensure that the sum of impacts achieved in this portfolio is more than the sum of its individual projects. Alongside this core responsibility, the successful candidate will also have a keen analytical eye for detail, ensuring that risks are managed, value is sought and achieved, and that stakeholders are kept informed in a positive and efficient way.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, coordinate and work to strengthen a small portfolio of research and innovation projects, focused towards lasting impact within the energy access sector, including:

1.Contracting, compliance and change management when required.
2.Delivery management for coordination, review and approval of technical deliverables.
3.Management of budgets and project forecasts to ensure value for money and aligned cashflows.
4.Appraisal of and response to arising risks, both internally within the projects and externally affecting the projects.
5.Implementation of a monitoring and evaluation strategy, such that the projects deliver on time, budget and scope.

  • Liaise with a range of relevant stakeholders in relation to the projects to maximise the impacts and ensure quality of delivery, including:

1.External project delivery teams. to manage delivery effectively, ensure high quality of outputs and maintain a working understanding of project progress.
2.Funders/clients (particularly the UK Government), to ensure overarching objectives are being met, delivery progress is fed back and ad-hoc queries responded to.
3.Carbon Trust colleagues, to support effective delivery (e.g. finance, legal, marcomms and the wider delivery team), as well as senior management (to ensure quality and risks are being managed effectively) and junior colleagues to facilitate their administrative support and professional development.
4.External experts and the wider public (through events and other communications), to ensure that delivery aligns with changing market needs and that research uptake is maximised.

  • Identify and facilitate value-adding services where possible such as:

1.Interlinking or brokering between projects (both within the TEA programme and in the wider energy access landscape) where opportunities for mutual benefit exist.
2.Arranging knowledge sharing workshops or events to help communicate outputs and/or other relevant topics (i.e. lessons learned, challenges faced)
3.Supporting the development of synthesised knowledge outputs, such as sector updates or thought leadership, published on websites, in reports or delivered in presentations.
