To promote a sustainable development in a country via the introduction of energy efficient lighting, it is required that a local basis of expertise is developed. For this purpose, it is of assistance to cooperate with vocational schools. The latter makes sense for various reasons, as it supports

  • to sustainable development and benefits for the target group (increased energy efficiency, improved schools conditions and learning modules etc.)
  • behavior change through awareness raising
  • market extension/ positioning for energy efficient lighting systems
  • gaining of access to the future generation for multiplier effects

On this aspect, cooperation with the lighting industry can be a further asset in order to gain access to lighting technologies and further expertise.
The following references imply a learning module that is aimed at teaching students to identify energy conservation measures for various equipments and utilities. Emphasis is laid on practical applicability, estimation of losses and calculation of benefits. The module furthermore covers investment aspects of conservation.
