In order to promote energy efficient lighting, the selected technologies play a crucial role: choosing the right technologies assists in the reduction of the expenses for energy as well as it contributes to environmental protection.&nbsp;<br>

Utilization of discharge lamps (energy saving lamps, fluorescent tubes) promises a lot for end-consumers:<br>

*they are more efficient<br>
*provide sufficient light with less energy (the luminous efficacy is up to 5 times higher as compared to conventional lighting) 
*save energy and thus energy costs (amortize)<br>
*contribute to climate protection<br>
*etc.

However, discharge lamps need another end-of-life treatment as compared to ordinary (incandescent) lamps. Thereby, the subject of disposal of energy saving lamps is sensitive for (in particular) end-consumers as manifold 'rumours' exist with regard to their mercury share.
