Knowledge fuels change - Support energypedia!
For over 10 years, energypedia has been connecting energy experts around the world — helping them share knowledge, learn from each other, and accelerate the global energy transition.
Today, we ask for your support to keep this platform free and accessible to all. Even a small contribution makes a big difference! If just 10–20% of our 60,000+ monthly visitors donated the equivalent of a cup of coffee — €5 — Energypedia would be fully funded for a whole year.
Is the knowledge you’ve gained through Energypedia this year worth €5 or more?
Your donation keeps the platform running, helps us create new knowledge products, and contributes directly to achieving SDG 7.

Information Material: End-of-Life Treatment Lamps EE-Lighting

From energypedia

In order to promote energy efficient lighting, the selected technologies play a crucial role: choosing the right technologies assists in the reduction of the expenses for energy as well as it contributes to environmental protection.

Utilization of discharge lamps (energy saving lamps, fluorescent tubes) promises a lot for end-consumers:

  • they are more efficient
  • provide sufficient light with less energy (the luminous efficacy is up to 5 times higher as compared to conventional lighting)
  • save energy and thus energy costs (amortize)
  • contribute to climate protection
  • etc.

However, discharge lamps need another end-of-life treatment as compared to ordinary (incandescent) lamps. Thereby, the subject of disposal of energy saving lamps is sensitive for (in particular) end-consumers as manifold 'rumours' exist with regard to their mercury share.

The brochures and internet links attached to this part of the Service Package aim to clarify and clear up anxieties.
