Welcome to the Green People's Energy Knowledge Hub

Germany's initiative Green People’s Energy for Africa was launched by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in 2017. The initiative has been implemented as Grüne Bürgerenergie (GBE, or Green People's Energy) by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) since 2019. It works to facilitate, expand and secure supply of and access to sustainable energy in rural Africa.
