We work with partners that share our enthusiasm for efficiency and collaboration to accelerate universal energy access around the world. The projects we fund are sector-building and are published completely open source. We see an opportunity to have a much bigger impact in the energy access sector if we try innovative, risk-taking ideas and share the results widely with ready-to-use materials.

Despite the strong business case for clean captive energy, many projects struggle to secure investment because of high development costs, limited project preparation, and insufficient investment readiness.
In this call for proposals, we want to see ideas that fit those criteria.

Eligibility/Description
Do you have an innovative clean captive energy project that needs support to reach investment readiness?

CICSA is launching its Phase II Call for Proposals, providing grant funding to help project developers overcome early-stage barriers and bring bankable clean energy projects to market.

Despite the strong business case for clean captive energy, many projects struggle to secure investment because of high development costs, limited project preparation, and insufficient investment readiness.

CICSA addresses this gap by providing grant funding and technical support for activities that reduce project risk, strengthen commercial viability, and unlock private investment.

The programme aims to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy solutions for commercial and industrial energy users across Sub-Saharan Africa while reducing dependence on diesel generation.

Applicants should demonstrate the technical, financial, and operational capacity to successfully implement the proposed activities.
