Last Update:

Up to January 2009 a system of ad hoc price changes as in place. But in the wake of the crude oil price peaks the government decided to cap the subsidies at the level they reached when oil cost 52$ per barrel. Whenever the international price (international benchmark not defined) of oil exceeded the reference price 52$ per barrel by 10$ over a period of three consecutive months, prices of petroleum products increased by an a priori fixed amount. These amounts are 50 millimes for a liter of gasoline, diesel and kerosene, and 200 millimes for a 13 kg bottle of LPG. The last adjustment under this system took place on the 21.2.2010. In February 2010 the reference price was raised to 60$ per barrel.
