GET.transform is a European multi-donor programme with the aim to support emerging economies worldwide in advancing their energy and power system transformations. It offers comprehensive advisory services to governments, regulatory bodies, and electric utilities on the topics of long-term energy planning, renewable energy grid integration, as well as energy policy, regulation and market development. GET.transform operates in Africa and Latin America. GET.transform is looking to fill a Advisor (m/f/d) position, with a strong knowledge of power systems and networks, to support the development and implementation of advisory services in the fields of renewable energy grid integration, with the overarching goal of enhancing global access to sustainable energy solutions.

Your tasks

  • Implement GET.transform advisory projects and initiatives related to renewable energy grid integration
  • Identify power system and renewable energy grid integration needs and challenges with GET.transform country advisors, governments, regulatory bodies, and electric utilities and develop targeted advisory approaches addressing them
  • Facilitating support for partner countries in implementing their renewable energy integration targets, working on areas such as energy infrastructure development, grid modernization, and technical frameworks
  • Developing and nourishing GET.transform’s and GIZ's advisory support on renewable energy grid integration, encompassing aspects of power system planning and operations
  • Cultivating and engaging exchange networks, as well as managing implementing partnerships with multilateral and regional strategic partner organizations, to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • Developing and organizing capacity building measures, and proactively, creatively, and effectively disseminating knowledge products to stakeholders
  • Administering international consulting service contracts and coordinating international short-term and long-term expert assignments
  • Providing expert backstopping support to other GIZ programs through GET.transform Leveraged Partnerships

Your profile

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on sustainable energy and renewable energy grid integration
  • Many years of professional experience, preferably gained in developing countries, in the field of sustainable development or sustainable energy, and within the context of renewable energy grid integration
  • Several years of experience in working with government bodies, electric utilities, consulting firms, or non-governmental organizations on topics related to power systems and networks
  • Strong project management skills, including the administration and coordination of international consulting service contracts, as well as experience with monitoring and evaluation systems
  • Previous experience working in Africa and Latin America highly valuable
  • Excellent writing, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex renewable energy integration issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and complex environment, along with experience collaborating effectively in a team
  • Business fluency in English is mandatory, with fluent in German considered and advantage
