Overview of the Position
The Communications and Advocacy Advisor will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Seas of Change (SoC) Uganda project achieves its transformative vision by strategically communicating its goals, amplifying its impact, and driving policy engagement. The role will focus on crafting and implementing an integrated communication and advocacy strategy to enhance visibility, foster stakeholder collaboration, and influence policy and practice at national and regional levels. He/she will build awareness of the RA-PURE nexus, strengthen partnerships, and support the embedding of sustainable practices into policies and systems.
Job Description
- Act as a communication’s technical expert for the project and aim to create an enabling environment by sharing knowledge, understanding stakeholders and environment for the implementation of the project to meet its objectives.
- Contribute to internal and external knowledge development while ensuring lessons learned are shared and applied in daily practice.
- Oversee the development of learning products, ensuring that insights from the project are effectively communicated to diverse audiences.
- Manage the project’s knowledge repository with easy access to reports, case studies, and multimedia resources.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to design and deliver advocacy campaigns that promote the adoption of RA-PURE solutions.
- Engage with policymakers, government agencies, and regional bodies to integrate RA-PURE principles into national and regional frameworks.
- Create compelling communication products, including newsletters, press releases, case studies, blogs, social media posts, and multimedia content, to showcase project achievements.
- Build, maintain and utilise relationships with relevant stakeholders, represent SNV and identify opportunities for Business Development policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Mass communication, Journalism and any other related courses.
- Proven track record with over 10 years in international development organisation.
- Strong oral and excellent written professional communication skills and a proficient editor.
- Networking skills, ability to build or expand networks with relevant people and organisations ·
- Project communications management skills and experience working and managing external service providers and consultants.
- Proficient in the use of digital technologies, including Canva, Adobe and cloud-based systems such as Office 365.
