Description
The webinar will mark the launch of the SEI report on risk mitigation for renewable energy investments, the result of a collaboration between the Stockholm Environment Institute and the Industrial Development Corporation of Zambia, and the University of Cape Town Power Futures Lab.

The webinar will explore the role of risk mitigation instruments in attracting private finance to renewable energy projects in Southern Africa. The discussion will focus on lessons learned from structuring and financing large utility-scale solar projects in Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, and Zambia. The webinar will include presentations from Scaling Solar and GETFiT, two leading DFI-led risk mitigation programs.

In addition, the scope, effectiveness, limitations, and potential for improvement of risk mitigation instruments will also be analyzed, particularly in the current context of high indebtedness in Africa.
